Professor Tomasz Nałęcz, President Bronisław Komorowki’s full time advisor, makes pretty clear what tactic is being used by the president’s campaign team in this year’s presidential election. The fight for the left-wing voters is between Komorowski and a struggling Magdalena Ogórek.
Despite his polite expression of respect for Ogórek as a researcher of medieval history, Professor Nałęcz, in an interview for the Polish version of The Times, states: “Polls today clearly show that SLD (the Polish Democratic Left Alliance) voters are more willing to vote for Mr. Komorowski than Ms. Ogórek. In my view, Ms. Ogórek will not be able to turn the tables. The entire election, now nearly over, has been shaped around Komorowski.”
The interview is not short of Professor’s personal confessions. “I was a member of PZPR (the Polish United Workers’ Party) and I participated in May-First Parades,” he declares.
After such disclosure, Leszek Miller’s voters (post-communists) should support Komorowski in mass. Nałęcz also states that “Bronisław Komorowki’s tenure as President has been the most historic during the last quarter of the century.” Does it mean saturated with the history of PRL?
